FORM 3+

The 3D printer trusted by professionals to consistently deliver flawless parts using an advanced Low Force Stereolithography (LFS) print process

LFS TECHNOLOGY

Low Force Stereolithography (LFS) 3D printing uses a flexible tank and linear illumination to deliver outstanding surface quality and print accuracy. Lower print forces allow for light-touch support structures that tear away with ease. This process opens up possibilities for future development of advanced, production-ready materials.

INDUSTRIAL-GRADE 3D PRINTING ON YOUR DESKTOP

The Form 3+ offers industrial capabilities at a fraction of the price of traditional industrial machines. It is part of a 3D printing ecosystem that is easy to learn, use, and requires little user intervention or maintenance. Using advanced Low Force Stereolithography, to deliver incredible part quality and reliability, the Form 3+ provides everyone from individual designers to large production teams with professional, reliable, accessible, versatile 3D printing.

HOW YOU BENEFIT

PINPOINT PRECISION

The custom-designed Light Processing Unit (LPU) inside the printer uses a compact system of lenses and mirrors to deliver accurate, repeatable prints.

  • Crisp, Clean Features: The high-power-density laser is passed through a spatial filter to guarantee a clean laser spot.
  • Consistent Printing: A parabolic mirror ensures that the laser prints perpendicular to the build plane, ensuring uniform print quality across the entire build platform.
  • Improved Part Clarity: With LFS technology’s improved layer registration and surface finish, translucent materials print clearer than ever, right off the printer.

NONSTOP PRINTING

The Form 3+ constantly monitors print performance so you can focus on bringing your most creative ideas to life. Integrated sensors help maintain ideal print conditions and send you alerts about the state of your machine.

  • Closed-Loop Calibration: Optical sensors continuously correct for scale and power, and can even detect dust.
  • Hassle-Free Materials Management: Switch between materials in seconds with a simple cartridge system.
  • User-Replaceable Components: The Light Processing Unit, rollers, and optics window can be replaced in-house, reducing the need for replacement printer shipments.

GROWS WITH YOUR BUSINESS

Start with one 3D printer or many, and add capacity as demand grows. Use the same tool through prototyping and into production and easily expand into new applications.

  • Industrial Quality: The Form 3+ offers industrial capabilities at a fraction of the price of traditional industrial machines.
  • Plug & Print: Formlabs 3D printers are ready to plug and print right out of the box, no specialized training required.
  • Avoid Delays: Bringing production in-house with the Form 3+ provides the fast turnaround time and flexibility you need to scale.

The reason for suggesting the Formlabs over the other low end SLS –  I’ve seen the accuracy that the SLS machines were capable of when I was doing the electrical pinning. Some guys had samples around and had been talking for quite a while about it.

Patrick Gerst

VP of Engineering, CPC

Resolution is a big deal for us because we make small round parts to be very general. The layer thickness is critical – especially if we are trying to do a little bit of light sealing and things like that. We found that the Formlabs printer was perfect for most of our needs.

Loi Truong

Design Engineer, CPC

With the Formlabs 3D printer we can get the desired sizes and get a true prototype by injection molding prototyping. Looking at the computer is one thing but when you really print it out and get it the right size that you need – you’re able make adjustments on it to see how they fit and how you feel about it.

Managing Director, Design Concepts Boston

The improvements to the light-touch supports that break away are game-changing. There is no way to describe the first time you take a part and pull at it and it just seamlessly pops completely free. It takes the stress out of building and cleaning parts and lets us keep our focus on design and creation.

COMPLETE YOUR 3D EXPERIENCE

The Form Wash and Form Cure streamline your 3D printing process to help you produce high-quality parts with less time and effort. Originally, these solutions were developed to automate post-processing for the Form 2 and Form 3+. If you are printing smaller parts (14.5 x 14.5 x 18.5 cm) on the Form 3L, the Form Wash and Form Cure may still be viable solutions.

AUTOMATE CLEANING WITH FORM WASH

The Form Wash agitates isopropyl alcohol (IPA) to flow around your parts to get them perfectly clean and raises parts to air dry once finished.

UNLOCK PEAK PERFORMANCE WITH FORM CURE

Introducing the automated post-curing station, the Form Cure precisely controls temperature and light to cure 3D printed parts to their optimal performance properties. This reliable, professional post-curing solution includes custom settings that maximize mechanical properties for each Formlabs material.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Below you’ll find answers to our most commonly asked questions.

You can count on personalized support around the clock – by email, live chat, or by joining a live webinar.

Can a Form 3/Form 3B user upgrade to a Form 3+/Form 3B+?
Form 3 and Form 3B users can take advantage of the improvements that launched with Form 3+ and Form 3B+ with a simple software update. If you update PreForm and install a new printer firmware, you can achieve 20-40% faster prints, easier support removal, and unlock new features such as sleep mode and preheating.
How can I identify if I have a Form 3+ or Form 3B+?

There is a label on the back of each printer that will indicate the type of printer you own. A plus symbol in the bottom right corner of that label indicates whether or not you have a Form 3+/Form 3B+.

Does the Form 3B+ come with Build Platform 2?

At this time, Build Platform 2 is available as an add-on to a printer purchase or as an independent accessory. It is not included in any current Form 3+ or Form 3B+ packages.

What is the difference between Form 3+ and Form 3B+?

Both printers utilize Low Force Stereolithography (LFS) technology. This reduces peel forces and improves surface finish. The difference between the printers is Form 3B+ is primarily for the dental industry. Form 3+ is for various industries.

What is the average lifespan of a Formlabs printer?

The lifespan of your printer depends on many factors. However, all Formlabs printers must pass a rigorous endurance test. The 36-month design operation test ensures a long-lasting, quality printer.
