Arbortext Adapter to IBM DB2 Document Manager

Seamless integration between IBM DB2 Content Manager, Arbortext Editor & the Arbortext Publishing Engine

Arbortext Adapter to IBM DB2 Document Manager improves reuse, collaboration and publishing through its seamless integration between IBM DB2 Document Manager and PTC's Arbortext Editor and Arbortext Publishing Engine. This adapter is the interface between Arbortext publishing software and the IBM DB2 Document Manager system. With the adapter, Arbortext users can create, capture and reuse information in XML using Arbortext Editor, manage that information in IBM DB2 Document Manager, and automatically publish that information to multiple types of media with Arbortext Publishing Engine. The adapter provides the ability to create information at a topic level, store it within the IBM DB2 Document Manager repository, and reuse the topics in a variety of compound documents. By managing content as separate topic components-which can be comprised of text, graphics, audio, video or anything you need to manage separately-multiple authors can simultaneously collaborate on different sections, or topics, of the same compound document. In conjunction with the Arbortext Publishing Engine and IBM DB2 Document Manager's Rendition Services, the integration also enables automatic publishing to multiple media and audiences from IBM DB2 Document Manager.Capabilities:

  • Improves Author Productivity by enabling multiple authors to collaborate on the same compound document at the same time and makes information reuse easy
  • Reduces Publishing Costs by supporting information reuse, interchange and automated publishing
  • Increases Information Quality and provides seamless access to IBM DB2 Document Manager functions, such as security and versioning functions, through Arbortext Editor

The Arbortext Adapter for IBM DB2 Document Manager provides seamless access to repository functions directly from Arbortext Editor. Benefits:

  • Direct access from Arbortext to repository services allows for check-in/check-out, revision control, delete, rename, browse, search, and "where used" functions
  • Automatically assembles XML compound documents when checked out for editing or viewing
  • Direct insertion of document components into open compound documents
  • Insertion by reference of document components into open compound documents
  • Bursts XML documents into component objects that are stored in the repository
  • Configurable bursting rules for component boundaries, storage locations, object naming, assigning object properties, and more
  • You can use with IBM DB2 Document Manager's Rendition Services to automate publishing processes
