Payroll and Accounting Specialist

The Payroll and Accounting Specialist will be responsible for managing payroll, general ledger and balance sheet, and sales tax. In addition, the Payroll and Accounting Specialist will provide direction for Accounts Payable, create year-end statements, process checks, and other accounting tasks associated with the Finance Department.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities, skills, and knowledge may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with the position. This position is Full Time, 40 hours per week, salaried.

Act as subject matter expert on payroll including responsibility for troubleshooting, garnishments, tax withholding, processing the company’s payroll on a weekly basis including assisting with any pay discrepancies or employee questions, reviewing collected payroll information and hours, and maintaining accurate payroll records.
Manage company sales tax ensuring compliance with established accounting practices and all regulatory requirements.
Generates year-end, monthly, and /or quarterly accounting and audit reports.
Manage the company’s general ledger and balance sheet.
General bookkeeping including processing cash receipts, balancing bank accounts, and processing checks.
Reconcile and report differences or issues found in financial records.
Assist with answering questions, resolving complaints, explaining policies and procedures regarding accounts payable and payroll.
Provides direction for organization, management, and coordination of Account Payable functions.
Other duties as assigned as company needs dictate.

Qualifications

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

Associate Accounting degree at minimum
2-3 years’ experience in accounting or payroll.
Above average proficiency in MS Excel.
NetSuite experience preferred.
Software subscription industry experience preferred.
Must have ability to maintain confidentiality.
Must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Must have ability to work with time-sensitive deadlines, multi-task, and meet the project and corporate goals while working in stressful situations.
Must possess good organizational skills, be able to work independently with focus and discipline to achieve the customer and company goals.
Ability to perform consistently with high collaboration and output.

Exposed to moderate noise levels.
