POST PROCESSING

Formlabs’ post-processing solutions allow you to continually produce high quality products and maintain an efficient and clean workspace by simplifying and automating the post-production-process

WHY DO I NEED POST PROCESSING PRODUCTS?

There are two factors that make the post wash process necessary—simultaneously soaking and moving parts in solvent work together to remove the thin layer of liquid resin from the surface of printed parts. The Form Wash and Form Wash L circulate solvent throughout the entire wash cycle, enabling shorter wash times than parts that are left to soak without constant movement.

Post-print curing is need because printing cures the resin to its “green” state. In the green state, some polymer connections are not yet fully reacted. Post-curing parts with additional light and heat strengthens the polymer structure, improving strength, stiffness, and temperature resistance.

Form Wash and Form Cure

The Form Wash and Form Cure streamline you 3D printing process to help you produce high-quality parts with less time and effort.

Originally, these solutions were developed to automate post-processing for the Form 2 and Form 3. If you are printing smaller parts (14.5 x 14.5 x 18.5 cm) on the Form 3L, the Form Wash and Form Cure may still be viable solutions.

Fuse Sift

The Fuse Sift is a safe, efficient powder recovery system for the Fuse 1. This all-in-one station combines part extraction, powder recovery, storage, and mixing in a single free-standing device. Highly convenient and compact, this is the most functionality you’ll get in a single device on the SLS market.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Below you’ll find answers to our most commonly asked questions.

You can count on personalized support around the clock by email, live chat, or by joining a live webinar.

Are there any post-curing requirements for the ESD Resin?

ESD Resin requires post-curing to reach its optimal mechanical properties. The print’s specific post-curing settings depend on equipment and the geometry of the part.

Can I leave parts in the printer after they finish?

Yes, Formlabs SLA printers have an orange cover that blocks UV light, so you can leave parts in the printer with the cover closed to protect them.

Is there a way to recycle used solvent?

Yes, Formlabs recommends recycling solvents for environmental and costs concerns. Investing in recycling Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) reduces waste and disposal costs, production emissions, purchasing costs, and supply chain interruptions.

What type of material is Formlabs resin made out of?

The proprietary material of Formlabs resins is liquid photopolymers.

What is the average lifespan of a Formlabs printer?

The lifespan of your printer depends on many factors. However, all Formlabs printers must pass a rigorous endurance test. The 36-month design operation test ensures a long-lasting, quality printer.
